Tracheostomy valves enable patients who have undergone laryngectomy to speak using a voice prosthesis but without finger pressure. The PRIMA-RESISTANCE-VALVE tracheostomy valve is available for both normal and reduced respiratory pressure. Acting as a holder, the fixation ring connects to a silicone cannula (PRIMA-SILK® VENT TYPE B). During quiet breathing the closure membrane of the tracheostomy valve remains fully open. During speaking the membrane closes due to increased respiratory pressure and the air is diverted via the voice prosthesis. The final valve pressure can be individually adjusted by rotating the cap. |
