A temporary loss of respiratory function can be necessary for various reasons.
Surgical removal of the larynx, upper respiratory tract disorders, congenital or
inherited narrowness (stenosis) or vocal cord paralysis are among the most
frequent causes.
The result is to open the throat, i.e. to perform a tracheotomy.
Despite this impairment, HEIMOMED is there to help patients lead a mostly
normal, comfortable life, and for them to be able to individually shape their lives.
Consequently we classify rehabilitation only conditionally and in accordance with
medical, training, professional and social aspects. In co-operation with university
clinics and speciality hospitals, speech therapists, associations for those without
larynx and patients themselves, we developed the present concept - established
on two levels: on one level it encompasses our complete product range, with
tracheal cannulae and cannula care, speech aids, voice amplification, tracheostomy
protection and further substantial programmes for the patient’s daily needs; on the
other level we offer to patients every personal support with our help-aids in order to
ensure a return to their daily lives as soon as possible.
